Think

Jesus loves children,
so your Book will tell.
But if they don’t know God
They’ll still go to Hell.

You shout in your zeal,
“Thou shalt not kill.”
And yet your kind God
slays more than we will.

A faith that condemns
the simplest act:
Eating from a tree
the Fruit of Fact,

run by a tyrant
calling for the death
of all those without
His name on their breath,

did not sit with me.
In fact, as I thought,
I slowly became
more and more distraught.

How could this Shepherd
send all of his sheep
into Damnation
and not even weep?

I quit believing
in a faith of gore.
I decided to
be Christian no more.

So when someone says,
“I will pray for you.”
I smile and answer,
“And I’ll think for two.”
I had to write something for Creative Writing.

Ok, This is a vital concept for many to yet grasp. It is very obvious there is suffering in the world, and Christian's say God created the world. So it looks like we are hypocrytes when we say our God is loving when He created a world which has death, violence, and to many things to mention that go "wrong". Here are some important points:

God created man for mulitple purposes, one being to praise Him.

Praise Him of our own free will.

In order to have the option of choosing our purpose, praising God, there is the need of a counter option, without it, God would have a people who do not know what it really means to choose Him.

Since Adam did fall into sin, sin has been passed down through his seed.

vital point: Jesus was born to a virgin, therefore a man's seed of sin was not used.

God gave us salvation by sacrificing His Son, so we could continue to choose Him as our Saviour, inabling us to praise His Name justly.

Conclusion: there will always be sin in the world, however we always have salvation, so we still have the choice given to us since the beginning. The world is not for us, we are to be here spreading His Word and glorifying Him, but eternity in heaven is where our perfect lives will be.

P.S. Please message me on here or privately if you have any questions, I will be glad to answer you if time enables me to do so. Thank-you.

I still think you should submit this to *AtheistsClub or ~brights (both of which are affiliates of my ~Domain-of-Darwin group). I'm sure it would be well-received.

Anyway, you already know I like this. =P

Sometime God uses bad things for good. He doesn't kill but Satan does. And with that. More people end up becoming Believers because of the tragedy..

I'm sure the first-born children in Egypt who were sacrificed to make a statement would agree.

Children. Innocent. Who have done no wrong.

Sacrificed so the Pharaoh will free the Hebrew slaves- grown men and women who have lived their lives and have the capacity for sin. Who allow themselves to live on their knees rather than rise up and attempt to overthrow their oppressors.

I know evil, and it is God.

God may have known Satan would rebel and Adam would fall into sin. But God, being a good God, provides a way of salvation even in our sin. The cause of suffering is not God. But rebellion, self righteousness.

God created evil. ;)

If he were truly omnipotent and benevolent, why would there be evil in the world?

God did not Create Evil Satan is an Angle that turned from God And went against him. And wants to do anything possible to keep us from believing. Which obviously looks like it works for you two. Too bad.

Hang on a second.

Acute or obtuse?

But seriously, God created Satan to begin with. He gave Satan the free will to turn against him, knowing the moment that he created him that he would rebel one day. Why would a loving god do that?

God is not only a loving God, He is a Righteous God, and the Bible even says he's a jelous God.
why God allows for 'bad things to happen to "good" people' i can not answer, except to say that ALL THINGS are for His glory! but from the above text i don't think you'll take that as an answer.
however let me say this:
yes God the Father created satan and yes gave him free will to turn against him and yes He is an omnipotent, omniscent, omnipresent God so he knew what he was doing. BUT remember also that God made you and gave you the free will to lash out at him and believe whatever you wish.

whether you like it or not i will be praying for you because you like so many have fallen into the belief that human logic can be wrapped around God.

~
"in the beginning God...." the rest is just commintary.
none of this is in any was about us.... it's ALL about Him!

I think the problem is the Christian god is being attributed behavior that falls under the rules of logic. Free will and choice is not necessary for goodness; if God were truly omnipotent, then he would be above the laws of human logic, and if he were truly benevolent also, then he could easily make it so that there is only good in the world. Free will is an unnecessary extra step - a truly omnipotent and benevolent god would have no need for it.

I appreciate your prayers. I'm receptive to the idea of a creator and I honestly want there to be one. I haven't, however, yet come across anything substantial to indicate one exists.

look out side your window and you will see the very evidence you search for. honestly think about the belief that such complex, intricate order and detail could come from total chaos. (look at it this was if you took your wrist watch completely apart, stuck every seperated peice in a bag then shook it up for millions of years. how possible do you think it is that you'll pull out a perfectly together, ticking on time wrist watch?)

i think i said it before i can't remember if i did or not... Everything absolutely everything in this world from the blades of grass under the willow tree to the birds and butterflies flying in the sky down to the darkest corners of this worlds dispare, sickness and prevertion, every bit of it is for the Glory of God. He IS omnipotent and benevolent, and maybe giving us free will was an 'extra-step' but who is if for us to apply our human logic to a God undefined by it?

you're forgetting something... God made this a perfect world to begin with, but gave humans and even the angels free will. think of this if you create it for the sole purpose of loving you, but then simply order it to love you... is that Love?

I look out my window and I see the beauty of evolution and chemistry and physics (which did not, by the way, arise from mere chance or chaos - the watch piece argument is one of the oldest arguments in the book, and holds no water).

If he were a truly completely benevolent God, why would he even made it necessary to find salvation? Sin would be nonexistent.
